Montmorency
Montmorency is designed, handcrafted, and shipped from NYC. We work mostly with women jewelers, setters, and model makers. Our designs utilize the French enameling technique called Champlevé. This is a special process where the surface to be enameled is engraved with its design before being filled, creating a finely wrought aesthetic. Montmorency pieces are comprised of recycled gold, custom-cut precious and semi-precious stones, and traceable diamonds.
About the designer
Designer Maddy Kebedjis drew on her French upbringing when she developed the color palette of the designs. Her childhood in Cannes on the Cote d’Azur is an inspiration for the bright colors and Mediterranean hues. She also traveled extensively with her family, residing in Asia and Africa. Her time spent in Cairo, Egypt gave her exposure to the power of symbolic meaning in jewelry, which underpins many of the pieces. Never content to only draw on the past, she takes cues from her adopted home of New York, creating linear and geometric silhouettes that echo the architecture of the city.
