This hand crafted and one of a kind padlock is one of Sevan’s most recognizable motifs, and his inspiration behind the lock goes back to his childhood. The Turkish tradition behind the motif was to fasten them for protection and lock the fences of holy mausoleums. They were also given as romantic gifts meant for locking away secrets. He says, “Once a padlock is put around the neck, the person becomes a precious and beautiful object.” This amazing one of a kind pendant is a wearable masterpiece designed by Sevan Bicakci. Intended to fasten to one of his sterling silver chains, this splendid large padlock is carved out of sterling silver with inlaid gold shoulders. Things in nature have a great sense of meaning to Sevan, and the butterfly symbolizes transformation and the ability to fly. They represent the never ending cycle of life and the ever evolving human spirit. The front surface is embellished with sparkling yellow and white diamonds, and a fluttering butterfly off to the left with pear shaped iolite, and black diamonds. The reverse side of the sterling silver lock is hand engraved and beautiful in all directions. Each piece is signed and dated, and the chain is sold separately.
